The Movies

I see a lot of movies! Well, not as many these days as I used to. Plus the hubby and I are a little more picky about the movies we actually spend our money on. However, I plan on writing up my own little reviews for recent releases that I’ve seen, and older movies that I’ve seen in the past. Stay tuned!

If you’re wondering about my seemingly generous rating system, keep in mind I tend to only see movies I’m fairly certain I’m going to like anyway. If one gets by my ‘fool proof’ watch-the-trailer-and-base-my-assumptions-on-that system and turns into a real stinker, I’ll reflect that in my ratings. 5 stars does not mean that the movie is suitable for all audiences, only that I really, really liked it, for reasons I will try to get to in a written review.

Newest review: The Dark Knight

  • Cloverfield – 4.95 Stars
  • The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian – 4 Stars
  • The Dark Knight - 11 stars for serious (I may need to revise my scoring system)
  • Forbidden Kingdom – 4.5 Stars
  • Hancock – 3.5 Stars
  • Iron Man - 5 Stars
  • I am Legend - 4.5 Stars
  • Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull - 3.5 Stars
  • The Incredible Hulk - 4.5 Stars
  • Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D - 3.5 stars
  • Kung Fu Panda - 4.5 Stars
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars4.5 stars
  • Wall-E - 5 Stars
  • Wanted - 3.5 Stars

  1. Daniel took pity on me and took me (well, I drove, but he paid!) to see Iron Man last Saturday. Fun movie! Well done! Good story and script! A+ !

  2. Went to see “WALL-E”. Great film, Pixar has done it again. We only watch DVD’s that Clearplay filters are available for, or that were made before the mid 50’s. There are a lot of “classic” movies that we have really enjoyed, like “We’re No Angels,” and most of the Fred Astair/Ginger Rogers movies and the Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland ones. Recently watched “The Great Debaters” and it is very good, I like Denzel Washington a lot (best in Man on Fire – which really needs the filter).

  3. Haha, you’re not kidding about Man on Fire – I’m surprised you could see enough of it with filters on to get an idea of the plot… or the last half of the movie anyway. ;)
